African Drumming Team Building: The Djembe Workshop

What awaits you.

The drums set the tempo, and the team follows: a wave of positive and unifying energy. Let yourself be carried away by the power of African drumming! This is one of our music and dance activities: 30min to 1h30, for 10 to 500 participants.

Each participant receives a djembe, a sacred drum, and under the guidance of a master percussionist, the sonic adventure begins. Very quickly, the rhythms align, laughter erupts, and team cohesion is built, note by note. It's a true exercise in communication and listening, where everyone contributes to a vibrant and memorable collective achievement.

What you will experience together:

  • Discover the basics of African drumming and create an ephemeral, harmonious orchestra
  • Participate in a sensory and rhythmic experience, unleashing everyone's energy and creativity
  • Build a true ensemble sound, a living testament to a shared collective accomplishment

Price of an African Drumming Team Building

In Paris, expect to pay €2,290 excl. VAT for 15 participants, €2,390 excl. VAT for 30, €4,390 excl. VAT for 100, and €7,090 excl. VAT for 200, which works out to €153, €80, €44, and €35 per person respectively. These amounts are exclusive of VAT and cover the entire group.

The 1 to 10 participant bracket has no listed price, as do group sizes over 200, even though the page advertises up to 500: these cases require a custom quote. Test yours in the configurator, or compare with Batucada.

Organising an African Drumming Workshop for a Seminar

The workshop can be scheduled at the start or end of a seminar, lasting from 30 minutes to 1h30. The short session can re-energise a group between plenary sessions, while the longer session allows time to build multi-part polyrhythms.

It can accompany a corporate seminar, a conference, or an integration day, whether indoors or outdoors. Also, see our corporate events.

Venue, Instruments, and Workshop Flow

A nearby power outlet and a stage for the musicians are sufficient; the djembes are brought and distributed. The flow follows four stages: introduction to the instruments and basic drumming techniques, learning polyrythms, cohesion exercises, and finally, a concluding piece.

Noise level is a point to consider: an isolated space or the outdoors is preferable. Any specific constraints can be handled on a bespoke basis.

Number of Participants and Profiles

The page advertises for 10 to 500 participants, with no musical prerequisites: the rhythms are learned through imitation and repetition. Everyone finds their place in the overall tempo.

The workshop is suitable for mixed teams and groups who don't know each other, as non-verbal communication replaces spoken words. For a more urban feel than traditional, consider Urban Drums.

HOW IT WORKS

The activity in 4 steps

1

Briefing and Learning

Our facilitators welcome your teams for a rhythmic immersion, introducing traditional instruments like the Djembe. Each participant discovers the basics of drumming to find the collective pitch.
2

Strategy and Setup

Your units begin learning polyrythms, where drumming technique and non-verbal communication are essential. Each participant finds their place in the overall rhythm.
3

Cohesion and Collective Rhythm

The session is punctuated by cohesion exercises where every profile can shine, guided by dedicated musicians. The complementarity of talents is key to building momentum and daring to express oneself fully.
4

Performance and Celebration

The adventure concludes with a final, collectively orchestrated performance, merging all the learned rhythms into a common piece. The facilitator highlights the harmony and synergy achieved by the teams.
